Bio/Contact

I use editing to promote and inform and dazzle.

My name is Sam Shearer, and I am a thrill seeker.

I grew up on the outskirts of Jackson, Mississippi, a place afire with charms and struggles. I was blessed with the chance to travel and create and learn about the world and all its truths, and developed a passion for stories in all forms: fiction and nonfiction, visual and audial, irreverent and consequential.

I attended SCAD in Savannah, Georgia, with a major in film and a minor in sound editing. I knew I had a fire to create, but I went into film at college to specifically find where I enjoyed building that fire the most, and I found it was post-production.

Nothing’s off the table for me. I have had the opportunity to edit narratives, documentaries, experimental films, music videos, trailers, reels, and branded content. My experiences traveling (ask me about the 44 states I’ve been to or the 320 roller coasters I’ve ridden!) have turned me into a sponge of stories in all mediums, and that is reflected in my work.

My thrill seeking has seeped into my work as well. I want to bring the strongest feelings I’ve felt in my life to others. Whether it’s the rush of adrenaline from imagery that is in rhythm with music, or the desire to see more of a product or project when one sees a particularly strong promotion for it, or the light of clarity that a documentary can shed on a niche topic, or even a swell of emotion from a moving edit - I want to CREATE thrills for seekers like me.
